The calling for our lives is to give and serve others as Jesus did. At 7th Son Ministry we are the hands and feet of Christ. Reflecting Jesus by acting on the universal commands of the gospel. Meeting the fundamental needs of those in financial difficulty.
"If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person."
1 John 3:17
To serve those that have encountered a life changing event. To assist them with housing cost, food, clothing, and financial assistance on a temporary basis.
Serving Mecklenburg and Union County.
As a young boy, I remember my mother making sure we attended church most Sundays. Her faith was great, as was the impact she had on my life. At the young age of 8 years old I decided to try to live a life that would make my mother proud. I lost her and my father, two short years later. However the divine influence she had on my life inspired me to serve my country, my city, my church, and my community.
Suffering tremendous loss in my life has taught me to be brave, resilient, and compassionate. No one is exempt from the storms of life that will inevitably come to us. Fortunately for me I was the seventh son, I had brothers and sister to fill the gap that my parents left behind. The heart for founding this ministry is simply to honor my mother’s faith by stepping in the gap for others in their time of need. - Ben Ratliff

Meet the Team
Ashley M. Coward
Ashley moved to Charlotte, NC in 2020. She was looking to plant roots and build a life for herself and Charlotte felt like the place God wanted her to be planted. Ashley decided to start volunteering with several organizations to meet new people and give back to the community, which is something she has always had a passion to pursue. Outside of her full time job, Ashley also enjoys encouraging and uplifting people, building and strengthening communities, and helping people become all that God created them to be in any way she can. Ashley is looking forward to seeing all the lives that this ministry will bless in the community and is honored to be a part of it
At an early age in life, Ronald understood the importance of giving back which was instilled in him by his parents. He moved to Charlotte in 2021 looking to be a part of a community that he could also serve. In addition to being a professional chef, Ronald is passionate about helping and coaching individuals and educating the youth on the fundamentals of culinary. He decided to become a part of the 7th Son Foundation because impacting the local community in practical and tangible ways is important to him and aligns with his personal values and goals. He is also working on a project that will provide high quality meals to the less fortunate members of the Charlotte community, because he believes that no one should ever go hungry or have to settle for scraps. He is looking forward to serving the community, through all the 7th Son Outreach events.
Benson was born in a humble South Carolina town as the 7th son. At the age of 10, he lost both of his parents and was raised by his older siblings. No stranger to hard work he began working at a grocery store from age 12-16. Upon finishing high school, he joined the U.S Army and served in various capacities until sustaining injuries that rendered him disabled by military standards. Despite the exit from his military career, Benson continued to serve by working as a Police officer, federal employee, Railroad engineer, and later a car dealership owner. After 2 successful retirements, his life’s priority remains to serve others. In this season of his life he has chosen to dedicate his time, resources, and experience to bettering his family and community. He has received education from UNCC Charlotte, Florida University, and later earned certificates from Charlotte Christian College and Theological Seminary. Benson enjoys going to church, being with his family, playing lead guitar, martial arts, and travel. Today, he is energized by this new chapter with the launch of 7th Son Ministry in honor of his mother’s legacy and his Christian faith.
Janiah was born in New Jersey, raised in PA, and relocated to Charlotte in 2018. While escaping the snow was a major factor, moving allotted her the chance to create a better life for her family. She planted roots at the same church that kept her afloat years prior via their virtual ministry when she started volunteering in January of 2021. She believed to get through hard times in her own personal life, it’s best to serve others. Through serving she made endless connections with people who also have a heart for God. She was baptized in March of 2021.
Outside of working full time and being a wife/mother, Janiah enjoys vacationing, writing, and and discovering new restaurants. Janiah hopes to make a difference in the lives of many through this ministry as she has a passion for helping people in every capacity.
